Is your garage taking over your life?
Many people find themselves with a garage full of cluttered junk at one point or another, I guess you could say it’s a part of life. Infact its amazing once you start going through it – just how much clutter you can accumulate in your garage. The mind really boggles.
Stuff that you either forgot you had, thought youd lost, or even sold, and other stuff where you have absolutely no idea where it came from. Orange trousers, dart board, milk crates, an inflattable kids pool, and a 20 year old unsolved rubiks cube. Yep, the absolute living essentials!
If youre anything like me, you’ll hate clutter. Not only does it clutter your garage but it slowly begins to clutter your mind and eventually your life. How many times have you opened the garage door and without turning the light on, simply threw whatever was in your hand into the darkest corner of the garage and quickly closed the door hoping no one would notice. I know you have at some point!
Or how about this? Have you ever tried getting out of your car in the tiniest of spaces of which your double garage has become only just bigger than a single carport? Trying to open your drivers door, and slide out on an angle that would hurt the back of a russian gymnast, only to think the whole while – this is ridiculous, I really need to get rid of this crap!
Or worse still, your garage is that full of clutter that you begin parking your new car out on the drive, then panic when a big hail storm comes over!
If any of this sounds familiar, then perhaps its time to declutter and get rid of this stuff once and for all. Besides you have a huge double lockup garage, that now has an entire 2 square meters left of which to park your car in. Not to mention having to have everyone get out in the driveway before you park in the garage because theres no room for the doors to open!
Ok so lets face it. Your garage is full of that much crap that unless you get rid of it all you’ll end up losing it completely. Somethings got to give, so why not begin with having a garage sale!
Lets look at your options.
1. Hire a skip and throw it all out. Hmm, seems like a big waste, Im sure someone could use some of this stuff, especially the needy.
2. Give it away to charity. That’s a great idea, but how to I organise it all? And who to call, and what to donate?
3. Have a garage sale, make some money and declutter for good!
The answer is easy – you do all three!
That’s right. Set aside some time and get the family involved in sorting through all that clutter in the garage. If it seems a bit too overwhelming then do it in manageable stages. Do some today, some tomorrow and so on. Eventually you might even find the back wall!
So once you have stuff sorted, get yourself a skip bin to ditch the stuff you know is outright rubbish or definitely won’t sell, prepare yourself for a garage sale and donate whats leftover to charity.
Doing this will declutter your life, allow you to park your other car in the garage, do away with the clutter and stress and help the less fortunate.
It’s a win win!
